A death certificate is a formal document provided either by a medical practitioner to record when a person has died or by a government office to declare the date, place, and cause of death in an official death register. This certificate is usually necessary for legal purposes, such as applying for probate or managing the estate of the deceased. It is also used for genealogical studies. Often, government offices update records like voting rolls and passport records without needing the physical certificate. A certificate from a physician or coroner confirming the cause of death is needed before issuing a death certificate. If the circumstances of death are unclear, for instance when a person is on life support, a neurologist may be consulted to confirm brain death. Delays in submitting the required paperwork are often both criminal and may lead to loss of the medical professional's licence.

The Lingala Language

Lingala (or Ngala, Lingala: Lingála) is a Bantu language spoken in the northwest of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the northern half of the Republic of the Congo, in their capitals, Kinshasa and Brazzaville, and to a lesser degree in Angola, the Central African Republic, Kenya and southern South Sudan. Lingala has 20 million native speakers and about another 20 million second-language speakers, for an approximate total of 40 million speakers.

  1. Lingala is a Bantu language spoken primarily in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo.
  2. It is one of the four national languages of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and is widely used in urban areas, especially in Kinshasa.
  3. Lingala has two forms: a formal, standardised version used in media and education, and a more informal, colloquial version used in daily conversation.
  4. The language was heavily influenced by missionaries and colonial administrators, who helped spread its use.
  5. Lingala is the primary language of Congolese popular music, including soukous, which has international recognition.
